Port Kitchens, LLC (PK) is a coworking commercial kitchen space located along side one of downtown Oakland’s hidden gems, the Kaiser Center Rooftop Garden, a 3.5 acre park featuring a reflecting pond with fountains, a wooden bridge, expansive lawns, mature trees and ample seating and hardscape for community events. The Kitchen is surrounded by over 4,500 sq.ft. of newly renovated venue space and an 8,000 sqft Rooftop terrace overlooking beautiful Lake Merritt. Our rooftop terrace features outdoor space with dining tables, lounge seating, hanging cocoon chairs, a large BBQ Grill and planter boxes for our artisans to grow their own food.
Our Kitchen provides 2,500 sq.ft. of commercial production space open to food entrepreneurs of Oakland and the greater East Bay. It offers an array of equipment and space to help our artisans and food crafters produce, store and collaborate in a shared environment designed to help people get back to the traditional art of food crafting. Whether you are a seasoned food professional or a home crafting fanatic looking to start a new business, we have a place for you. Port Kitchens (PK) is operated by Raise the Root Cooking Collective.
Raise the Root Cooking Collective supports its Members with monthly marketplace events and packaging facilities designed to get their products to market. Port Kitchens Members will also have access to the greater coworking community of the Port Workspaces (The Port). The Port provides a place to get your office work done via luxurious café spaces, private offices, and conference rooms. The Port also provides the added amenities of high speed internet, printing, copiers and free coffee, tea, kambucha, probiotic drinks and beer on tap!
We have a full time kitchen manager on site 5 days a week. We provide a kitchen porter who services the kitchen three times per week, deep cleaners twice a month, and pest control services bi monthly. It is a well managed community with event space as well. There is the opportunity for members to become "preferred Caterers" with the venue's event space.
MEMBERSHIP
Membership at Port Kitchens requires an initial 3 month contract commitment which converts to a month to month thereafter. Members are required to maintain a minimal 10 hour monthly membership to stay current. Port Kitchens is open 24hrs a day, 7 days a week. Members are conveniently allowed to schedule their own time through our online calendar and MUST schedule ALL kitchen use prior to entering the facility. Port Kitchens has 16 available workstations which can be scheduled in advance and can support a maximum of 6 groups at any one time. Membership rates are outlined below based on the number of people in the kitchen and overall number of workstations used.
